What is Clop Ransomware, and how does it differ from other ransomware variants?
Clop Ransomware is a type of ransomware that encrypts files on a victim’s computer and demands payment in exchange for decrypting the files. It belongs to the CryptoMix ransomware family and has been known to target businesses and organizations, encrypting their files and demanding ransom payments in bitcoin.
One key difference that sets Clop Ransomware apart from other ransomware variants is its use of a technique called “double extortion.” In addition to encrypting files, Clop also exfiltrates sensitive data from the victim’s system and threatens to publish it unless the ransom is paid. This tactic increases the pressure on victims to comply with the ransom demands.
