The WannaCry ransomware malware was created by exploiting a vulnerability in Microsoft Windows operating systems, known as EternalBlue, which was developed by the NSA. This flaw allowed the malware to spread rapidly across networks. Additionally, WannaCry employed a worm-like behavior, enabling it to self-propagate and infect other vulnerable computers without user interaction. Its widespread impact was also attributed to the fact that it demanded ransom payment in Bitcoin, making it difficult to track and trace the attackers.
