Hackers continue to launch ransomware attacks despite the increasing use of backups by victims because ransomware can still be profitable for them. Some hackers are able to demand high ransom amounts, and some victims may choose to pay rather than deal with the inconvenience and potential data loss associated with restoring from backups. Additionally, hackers may target organizations with valuable or sensitive data that they believe will be willing to pay the ransom to regain access to their information quickly. Furthermore, some hackers constantly evolve their tactics to stay ahead of security measures and to exploit vulnerabilities in systems, making it challenging for victims to fully protect themselves even with backups in place.
